Art transforms sorrow to joy and loss to triumph. In particular, I am drawn to discovering the connection between art and words in illustration, rendering ideas and stories visible. Beginning as a child with inspiration from East Asian brush painting and calligraphy, I am now developing toward the exploration of classical Western aesthetics.
Though I enjoy experimenting with a variety of media, including digital painting, graphic design, and photography, I prefer traditional media such as oil paint, watercolor, charcoal, and ink, as I feel that these allow a closer connection between my hand and my artwork. In another sense, I am traditional in that I seek to illustrate the values of truth, beauty, and love. My work is inseparable from my faith….I create to seek my Creator, and I hope that instead of contributing to the darkness of the world, my art uplifts the spirit and reflects the dignity of life.
